NATIONAL POLICE MUSEUM






History-: The museum was established in 1991 with the purpose to showcase all objects and methods used by the Indian as well as International Police Forces to combat crime and hence attract all those curious minds to this nodal centre of all the Police organisations. Apart from the ground floor, the museum officials announced their decision in mid-2003 to convert the first floor of the building as an extension of the existing National Police Museum. In this section the Police Department plans to display all the arms and ammunition, intriguing letters, historical and interesting Police Files and Ancient and New Police Uniforms worn by all the Police Officials with their respective ranks and medals. A Double-barrel gun will be the pride of this museum which was presented by Pundit Jawahar Lal Nehru to the Delhi Police in 1961 and another interesting aspect will be a historical document in possession of the Delhi Police dating back to 1904 and numerous antiquities that the museum officials plan to showcase to the public that will help to educate and exchange information with all visitors about the life and works of the Police Force that would no longer remain as a mystery to anyone.

This museum take us into the world of thrill and sensation as museum contains several thought provoking items all related to police, Crime & Criminals, from the ancient to the modern times. Exhibited items are acquired from different states and central police organizations both of Indian and Foreign Origin. Photography is allowed with permission. Museum has no admission fees. The museum provides all visitors a glimpse into the tough world of the Police Organisations that depicts their skills and technique along with the entire process of Investigative methods applied by them to capture criminals. The items displayed in this museum ranges from ancient to modern periods acquired from all the States and the Central Police Forces of India and Abroad like weapons, accessories, photographs and other significant documents that have assisted the Police in capturing criminals. On display is an array of objects of crime, forged documents, articles, notes and rare photographs of utmost importance seized by the Police Forces from captured criminals.







DISPLAYED ITEMS

The National Police Museum also exhibits all the ancient and new modern technologies that are being used by the Police Forces worldwide ranging from latest scientific methods and utilities acquired by the crime bureau's State and Central Forensic Science Laboratory Department and Finger Print Bureau. It also introduces visitors to the challenging assignments faced by the Police when they are encountering criminals and later the steps and difficulties they undergo when prosecuting these criminals. All documents like FIRs, Case Studies, weapons and other harmful items captured by the Police Forces are also seen on display. There is a special section in the National Police Museum, New Delhi which displays the newest techniques adopted by the Central and State Finger Print Bureau and Forensic Science Laboratories. The main items in display at the National Police Museum were collected from various police forces across the country be it the State Forces or the Central Forces that very aptly accounts each and every nuance of the crime and judicial fabric of the country focussing on the minutes of details and incorporating each and every information possible to their utmost extent. Also some of the assemblages are inputs obtained from foreign countries that helps to render the comparative analysis of the Indian and foreign methodologies for crime and crime-solution and leave behind subtle innuendos as to the gradual progress of this line of research in the country.
